Saturday DIY: Feather Heels

Lately, I've been completely obsessed with feather heels. They've been popping up everywhere and I can't wait to get my hands on some. Until then, you know I had to try and make my own! Follow these simple steps and you'll have feathered pumps just in time for a night on the town.

                     BEFORE                                                      AFTER

What You'll Need:
Heels (I used some neon pink pumps that I haven't worn in a while)
Feathers by the yard (depending on the height of your heel 1/2-3/4 yard will do)
Velcro (adhesive backing)
Fabric Glue

First, cut your adhesive into thiner strips (I just trimmed mine in half)
Measure the velcro against the height of your heel and trim it to size
Remove the paper backing and position the velcro along the back of the heel
Note: You'll want to use the rougher side of the velcro for the heel

Next, take the other side of the velcro and measure it against your feathers.

Cut the velcro and feathers to size
Add some fabric glue to the adhesive side of the velcro (this will help your fabric stick to the velcro)
Combine your velcro and your feathers

Stick the velcro and feather combo to the velcro on the heel and wa-lah!

Repeat on for the other shoe and you're done.

Simple right? If you decide to try it, don't forget to tag @HouseofRehab!

Tips: I think this would've looked even better if my feathers and velcro matched. Next time I'll try it with black feathers on black velcro on black pumps.
